Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star Announces New President for Greater Tarrant County


Dallas, Texas – Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star has named Melanie Hanna President of its Greater Tarrant County market. “Melanie brings invaluable experience and an impressive track record that spans 15 years of nonprofit work and university advancement efforts,” said Pierce Bush, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star. “Her proven skills and expertise will truly amplify the impact of our organization.”

“I’m excited about the opportunity to join Big Brothers Big Sisters,” said Hanna upon her appointment. “I look forward to being a part of this great team, which helps make our community a better place by providing mentors to children who need good role models in their lives.”

Prior to consulting for various organizations, Hanna served as Executive Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, where she spearheaded an entrepreneurial approach that nearly tripled the chapter’s budget to $1.6 million from $600,000. Hanna also served as the Development and Constituents Relations Officer at Brite Divinity School, a theological school associated with Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. While there, she worked with the President and Vice President of Advancement to solicit and secure more than $25 million during its capital campaign. She also helped increase donations to the Brite Divinity School Annual Fund campaign by 10 percent annually while expanding its donor base by 5 percent each year.

Hanna previously worked as a development officer at Texas Christian University. She came to TCU from March of Dimes, where she served as the Senior Event Coordinator. Hanna also received her BS in Psychology from TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. She is an avid Horn Frog fan who can be found supporting her home team at various events throughout the year. Beyond her professional endeavors, Hanna is an active member of the Junior League of Fort Worth, Alpha Delta Pi and Tanglewood Elementary PTA.
