2014 Event Recap

For the past 36 years, The Barrett Havran Memorial Big Taste of Fort Worth benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters has been Tarrant County's premiere food and wine tasting event featuring the gourmet cuisine of Tarrant County's finest restaurants while benefiting the children of our community. Fine food, premium wines, spectacular live entertainment and an incredible auction make this event one of Fort Worth's best.

The 2014 Barrett Havran Memorial Big Taste of Fort Worth benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters was a night that featured a taste of Tarrant County's premier foods and wines at the beautiful Omni Fort Worth Hotel. The event featured fine wine and culinary delights from Tarrant County's best restaurants, live entertainment and an incredible auction.

The night began with an exclusive VIP wine tasting presented by Novacopy. Over a dozen wineries were represented filling the room with robust aromas of buttery chardonnays, full-bodied cabernets and complex pinot noirs. Partnering the tasting was a selection of cheeses, and fruits with a full color ice sculpture honoring the wine tasting title sponsor Novacopy. Trey & The Tritones got the tasters tapping their toes. The host of the evening, Janee’ Hill and auctioneer Renee’ Jones, led a live auction which included suite tickets to a Texas Rangers game, hunting excursions, a Tuscan getaway and more – all benefiting the cause. And that was just the beginning…

As the main tasting began, guests were welcomed to the main ballroom by a menagerie of choices from the best-of list among Fort Worth eateries. Pasta, Filet Mignon, pastries, and all kinds of gourmet choices designed with only one goal in mind; to win your vote for best décor, best taste, or another of the evening’s honors. And this year, it was a most difficult choice as all of the restaurants and presenters brought their A-list dishes.

The evening included a presentation from Honorary Chair Governor Rick Perry and concluded with award presentations by Chair Greg Kalina. Big Brothers Big Sisters would like to graciously thank all of the restaurants and wineries who participated as well as each patron who supported the children of Tarrant County by attending and sponsoring this annual event.
The best part about the event; of course, is that all of this added up to a gross revenue of over $230,000 to benefit the program and continue to help children right here in our community.
