AdvocacyBig Brothers Big Sisters supporters are passionate ... advocate on our behalf to make a difference today.

We need help ... and you have a voice!

With the budgetary challenges that we are facing in our state, federal funds that flow through the Texas state government to Big Brothers Big Sisters are in jeopardy.  While Big Brothers Big Sisters welcomes a healthy statewide debate on tax policy and fiscal responsibility, jeopardizing the future of the children currently benefiting from our program is not the answer to our state's fiscal woes.

By downloading a letter of support and sending to your local representatives, you are making a difference in the lives of children today.  Following are a list of decision makers who need to hear your voice:

Learning opportunities for your Little as well

Take this opportunity to teach your Little Brother or Little Sister about government.  Let them know that they have a voice in the decisions that are made in our state and nation every day.  Ask them to write a letter in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters (with their parent or guardian's permission) to help them understand the process.  Nothing could be more powerful.

Check out the attached link for a fun way to introduce the U.S. government to your Little and expose them to kid-friendly activity that will help them understand what happens in government.  Use this site to open a dialogue on how to get involved in active civic involvement.

In the interactive game Represent Me! you work as a legislator trying to meet the needs of your constituents.  The people who voted you into office have various backgrounds, diverse opinions and they each want something different from you.  As their representative, you must consider their backgrounds before deciding what bills to sponsor in Congress.

Thank you for your support of your Little and of Big Brothers Big Sisters!
