Many employers sponsor matching gift programs that match charitable contributions made by their employees. Some companies may even match gifts made by retirees, spouses, and board members. Others provide matching funds to support employee volunteer hours. Most of these programs match contributions dollar for dollar, and some will even double or triple the amount of your gift!

Employee matching gift programs are corporate giving programs in which the company matches donations made by employees to eligible nonprofit organizations. Most companies with employee matching gift programs provide a 1:1 match which doubles your donation.
Volunteer grant programs are corporate giving programs in which the company provides a monetary donation to eligible nonprofits as a way to recognize employees who volunteer. Please see your company guidelines to determine how many hours are needed to qualify for a volunteer grant.
Eligibility rules vary by company but your eligibility is normally based on your employment status and length of employment.
At almost all companies, full-time employees and board members are eligible. In many cases spouses, part-time employees, and retirees can participate as well.
Length of employment:
In most cases, there is no minimum length of employment requirement. A few companies will require you to have been employed for a minimum amount of time (usually 3-12 months).
Your company’s official guidelines will outline all of the requirements.
Requesting a matching gift or volunteer grant is normally a five minute process. The company will provide either a paper form or an electronic submission process.
The gift matching process typically involves two steps:
1.Employees complete section A on the form and then mail it to the nonprofit.
2.The nonprofit verifies the donation, completes section B on the form, and then submits it back to the company.
The company will direct you to a website where you can complete the matching gift request electronically.
You’ll need your employee ID and password to access the company specific site. You’ll then enter your information, donation amount, and locate Big Brothers Big Sisters by name and address or by our tax ID number, 75-0800632.
In some cases, you must access the matching gift website through the company intranet.
